SERDO is a non-political, non-religious, not for profit organization, registered under Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1860 by the Registrar of Societies, NCT of Delhi vide registration No. S/24963 of 1993. Its focused areas are surveys, studies and research on socio-economic aspects. Since its establishment in 1993, it has carried out several studies on different subjects/programmes, sponsored by the Government of India, State Government and the International agency.
SERDO was initially formed by seven memberswith Late Shri M.S.Gokhale, a great freedom fighter and Director Khadi & Village Industries Commission(KVIC) as its Founder Chairman.
Since then it has been chaired by Shri V.C.Tandon (falicitated with father of Communication in India by the Communication Professionals Association of India), Shri L.P.Rai (a gold medalist in Statistics and member of first batch of Indian Statistical Service, Govt. of India), Prof. M.L.Singh (Retd. Head, Department of Economics, Ranchi University and Visiting Professor, All India Council of Technical education, GOI).
